I wanted to teach my canary to sing, but I honestly was not sure how to go about this. I was excited to get a canary, mainly because of the songs that they sing, but I was not disappointed when mine didn’t sing. Instead, I just felt challenged, because I knew that they were supposed to sing. My vet could not find anything wrong with my bird, and she suggested that perhaps she just had not heard the right music to mimic yet in her young life. I knew that I would not be able to be the one to teach her, so I went online to see if I could find some music of canaries singing.
I knew that if I could find something, she would be able to listen to her own family of birds singing, and then she may be able to pick something up from that. I looked at a few different websites, and I knew I had found the right one when I came across one that sells CDs that are specifically for birds who do not know what or how to sing. I know it might sound silly to people who don’t own a bird, but it makes perfect sense to those of us who own birds that are supposed to sing but they don’t.
I bought both CDs, and I played them both every single day. It was so interesting to watch my bird start to mimic what she was hearing. It was not long before she was chirping away just like the CDs, and that is when they weren’t even playing. My house sounds a lot different now, and I love every minute of it when she starts chirping a new song for me. Those CDs gave her the voice and lessons that she needed.
